Spatial Audio for Art Galleries
September/2026 - ENTI-UB, Barcelona
The project consists of a spatialized audio installation for art galleries and museums, in which visitors wear wireless headphones and walk through the space, listening to sounds from virtual sound objects and perceiving them spatially according to their position. The system uses infrared sensors along with rotation and acceleration meters to determine the position and orientation of the visitors in real time, delivering an extended reality (XR) experience that blends the real space with a virtual space containing the sounds. This installation was the result of academic master's research conducted at ENTI-UB, which evaluated the impact of using virtual reality headsets on the ability to localize virtual sound sources.
